TNC will once again raise the Philippine flag as they compete in the group stage of the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) Global Finals 2018 on March 11-17, 2019 in Chongqing, China.

The group stage will be held at the Athestel Hotel Chongqing, while the playoffs will be played at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center.

A group stage format will be held in which teams will have to go through a best-of-two single round robin bracket. From there, the top two teams of each group will go to the playoffs, where all matches would be in the single-elimination, best-of-three format.

TNC will be going up against Team Ukraine led by Sergey “starix” Ischuk from runtime.gg and of vintage Natus Vincere fame, as well as 5POWER and ENZO from the Asian region.

Teams will be fighting for the lion’s share of the $890,000 prize pool (P46.5 million), with the breakdown as follows:

1st Place: $500,000
2
nd Place: $200,000
3
rd Place: $100,000
4
th Place: $50,000
Quarterfinalists: $10,000

The Filipino squad won 2nd place in the WESG SEA finals against Thai side Alpha Red with a 2-1 scoreline (19-15 on Inferno, 17-19 on Nuke and 9-16 on Mirage), thus denying them the chance to get their first-ever regional championship.

Still, TNC goes into this tournament as one of the four Southeast Asian representatives, along with Vietnam’s Revolution and Malaysia’s FrostFire.

Familiar names such as Brazil’s MIBR and Sweden’s Fnatic are also participating in the said tournament.
