Excited for Mindanao's first CS:GO tournament this year? Read on!

Mindanao is about to have its first region-wide CS:GO tournament this 2019.

To kick off the regional CS:GO calendar, Ling, in partnership with gaming server provider Mogul.gg, is set to conduct Warzone, a tournament intended to “showcase the rising talents and players in the esports scene” and to “promote esports in Mindanao” later this year.

As such, it is only open to Mindanao-based CS:GO teams. The format for the city-based and wildcard qualifiers will be best-of-one double elimination, with best-of-one semifinals and grand finals.

Meanwhile, the playoffs will be best-of-three single elimination, all the way to the grand finals. Davao, General Santos, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Iligan and Cagayan de Oro is set to have their respective city qualifiers.

In addition, there will be two wildcard qualifiers “that are open to all teams who are either mixed or who come from other cities in Mindanao”.

The top team of each qualifier will go to the playoffs, where they will fight for a share of the P20,000 prize pool. Warzone will start on June 22 onwards.

This is considered to be a significant tournament for the region, as it meets the standard minimum prize pool and team participation requirement to be tagged as such. Many of the region’s top teams are expected to participate in this tournament.

Metronoia Pro Cup was the last significant tournament in the region, held back in December 2018 in Zamboanga City. The tournament saw defending champion Metronoia.gg take the crown once again and take the lion’s share of the P70,000 prize pool.
