Yeah, many of you will wonder, why did “Teacher”/”Sir”/”Mister” Earl start a totally new blog.
The answer is that I wanted to write a lot of things on a place that I can call my own. For the record, I’ve been writing my personal blog on a free WordPress site since the year 2011, and while I enjoyed doing a big part of my writing there, my personal desire to have a web site just increased as the days passed – and the chance to have more opportunities to do the things that you need and want in your site is the thing that attracted me to it.
Some may be shocked why I spent money on something like this. The answer is quite obvious: It is an investment in itself and in the belief that I can do more and do better. I want to improve my craft and I also want to be able to have a place where I can show my portfolio – I obviously need one for practical reasons.
I know that I have still a lot to learn, but at the same time, I am happy about the progress that I’ve done. Maybe I should work my way towards being a full-fledged author soon!
Even though I don’t want to use the word, writing is like a drug that allows me to express myself, to fight my inner demons and to have a voice even if there’s no one to talk to. It is one of my ways to help me find a purpose in life – to help me make sense of the things that have happened and are happening around me. At least, that’s based according to my limited understanding of life and its contents!
This means that you’ll see my rants, stories, opinions and fan fiction on this site from now on. Just pick your poison…and your mileage may vary!
Reflections on the past few days
When I came back to Manila, I thought of ways on how to improve and create a better balance between the things that I need to do (i.e. teaching and all those things that come with the description) and the things that I want to do (i.e. writing, gaming, etc.)
I am quite happy with the state of my teaching right now, in comparison to my first year of teaching, and even though I am rather inexperienced, I try to learn as much as I can from my colleagues and mentors who have been quite helpful with their tips and examples thus far. I do hope that I can deliver in a better way this year – and to make it into a better experience.
It’s an irony of life that a person learns the importance of certain things once it is taken away from him/her. As a consequence, learned that it’s not worth it to stress one’s self with numerous details to the detriment of one’s health. Learning this the hard way is obviously not a preferred route, but that’s how life works.
At least, life is way better now. It’s more relaxed, more fulfilling and more hopeful than ever.
Here we go!
I hope you enjoy the new blog! And I hope you do visit this place from time to time!
