According to sources, a company in Mindanao is set to have a large CS:GO tournament with a P100,000 pool at the end of this year.
In addition, it is mentioned that the investors are currently discussing whether to limit the “large CS:GO tournament” to the Visayas-Mindanao region, with the argument that Luzon and Metro Manila teams already have more chances to join tournaments without having to spend large amounts of money for airfare and accommodation.
On the other hand, some of the investors wanted to have a national tournament, as they think that it would increase the prestige of the regional scene and the brands that the company carries.
They are slated to start their qualifier rounds in September, so that everything will be wrapped up by the end of October, regardless of the final decision that the board makes.
It remains to be seen whether the company will push through with the year-ender tournament. After all, some of them also mentioned that hosting a large tournament is going to incur large costs.
If this happens, the tournament will surpass both editions of the Metronoia Pro CS Cup, which featured P50,000 and P70,000 in terms of prize pool, as well as many of Mindanao’s top teams.
