With the new Anniversary event comes tears, blood, sweat, drama and fear – as everyone in the big world of War Robots awaits the update with anticipation.
On April 25, 2019, Pixonic released the event. As promised, Arena has appeared in place of Skirmish.
The MODE is MINDBLOWINGLY BALANCED. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER THAT PIXONIC HAS HIT THE BLOODY BULLSEYE.
What is the Arena?
The Arena is a mode where six players pay an entrance fee of 100 gold in order to fight under a preset hangar. Each Arena cycle lasts for three days and everyone is allowed to enter in a free-for-all match on Shenzhen (Yamantau is now playable too, more maps are coming soon…)
The top three get back their registration fee and win more prizes. Meanwhile, the bottom three get participatory prizes for trying out their skill and luck in this highly competitive mode.
What is the current cycle?
Here are the five robot setups that are used in this current iteration of the Arena:
Vityaz: Two Gekkos and a Nashorn – best for long-range fights.
Schutze: One Nashorn – a nostalgic robot. Useful for running and doing chip damage…
GI Patton: Four Pinatas – Hmmm…how could you fight it at short range?
Rogatka: Two Tulumbas – Well, you could never go wrong with this setup.
Boa: One Thunder and one Orkan – Arguably the strongest robot in the lineup.
Overall, it makes up for some interesting fights…
Why is the Arena revolutionary?
Let’s be frank, it’s the first time that Pixonic introduced an actual competitive mode and upgraded Hangar X to its rightful place – an area where one can get rewards for playing with skill and valor.
With the new Arena, players can fight on equal terms. NO MODULES, NO BOOSTERS, NO OTHER ADD-ONS: JUST PURE SKILL AND GAMING ABILITY.
In addition, 100 gold is a great exchange for a skill-based game. Score better than half of the players and you will get back. Score higher and you will get more than you will ever get from a single live server game of War Robots.
The caveat
Only one caveat: No silver for you.
But seriously, you just pay 100 gold to get 2.25 times the rewards plus 140 energy cells (or 2.50 times the rewards and 100 energy cells in the new versions of the Arena). Every single player who does not want to buy has now an opportunity to get all the resources they want…without having to face imbalanced hangars, clan squads, gangbangs and the like!

Conclusions
So far, this is one of the best modes that Pixonic has created. If I were you, play this mode now while you can – unless you actually have to get silver; in this case, play on the live server!
Otherwise, Arena will give you a very good coaster ride – a unique experience that you will never get in the live server as of the moment.
I highly recommend people to play the Arena on the live server, even though it has many points for improvement!
